Smoked Room is the DIFC outpost of Dani García — the Marbella-based Spanish chef who held three Michelin stars at his eponymous restaurant before voluntarily handing them back in 2019 to refocus on what he calls 'cuisine for the people'. Smoked Room, García's most personal Dubai concept, opened in late 2022 at Address Sky View Tower. By the 2024 Michelin Guide it had earned one star — a remarkable acceleration.

The kitchen is built entirely around fire. There is no induction. There is no flat-top. Every protein, every vegetable, every sauce is finished or built around live flame, smoke, or embers. The dining room is intimate (roughly 35 seats), the open kitchen is dramatic, and the menu is a single 9-course tasting at AED 850pp — escalating to AED 1,300pp for the wagyu-and-truffle premium version.

We've been three times in 2026. The standout is consistency under fire — wood-fired cooking is notoriously hard to keep precise course-to-course-to-course, but García's Dubai team (led by chef Hugo Marrero) lands every plate. The wagyu beef tartare smoked tableside, the live-fire turbot with charred lemon, and the apple wood-smoked Iberian pork all sit at a level Dubai's modern dining scene rarely reaches.

Must Order

  • 9-Course Fire Tasting AED 850
The signature menu. Single seating; wine pairing AED 550 extra.
  • Premium Wagyu/Truffle Tasting AED 1,300
Seasonal premium with A5 wagyu robata course + black truffle service.
  • Smoked Beef Tartare In tasting
Tableside smoke-finished tartare — the menu's defining dish.
  • Live-Fire Turbot with Charred Lemon In tasting
Whole turbot grilled over olive wood, finished with lemon embered in the same fire.

Pros

  • Genuine Spanish 3-star pedigree (Dani García)
  • Fire-only kitchen — unique in Dubai
  • Open-kitchen theater is dramatic without being gimmick
  • Wine pairing is exceptional value (AED 550 for 5 glasses)
  • DIFC location — taxi-friendly, no airport-zone traffic

Things to Know

  • Tasting-only format — no à la carte
  • Heavy meat focus — vegetarians need to call ahead
  • Books 3-4 weeks ahead Fri/Sat
  • Smoke can be intense for guests sensitive to wood-fire aroma

Final Verdict

Smoked Room earns its Michelin star through technique and conceptual clarity. Dani García's fire-only approach gives Dubai something genuinely distinct, and the kitchen executes with the consistency a star demands. Book 3-4 weeks ahead. The AED 850 tasting is one of Dubai's best Michelin value-per-dirham.
