Brunch in Dubai: A Cultural Institution
In Dubai, brunch is not a meal. It is a religion. Every Friday (and increasingly Saturday), the city's restaurants, hotel ballrooms, beach clubs, and rooftop terraces fill with residents who have elevated the weekend brunch to an art form. This is a city that invented the concept of the three-hour, entertainment-included, free-flow brunch — and then spent the next twenty years trying to outdo itself.
The spectrum is genuinely extraordinary. At one end: Atlantis's Saffron — 220 dishes, 20 live cooking stations, and enough food to justify multiple revisits. At the other: Baker & Spice's intimate farmhouse brunch, where single-origin eggs and sourdough toast are treated with the seriousness they deserve. In between: Japanese robata brunch at Zuma, Chinese party brunch at Maiden Shanghai, French bistro brunch at Couqley, and approximately 90 other things we have eaten so you do not have to guess.
We update this guide quarterly. Here is where we eat brunch in Dubai right now.
Saffron is the most famous brunch in Dubai — and its reputation is fully earned. The scale is staggering: 220 dishes across 20 live cooking stations, covering Japanese, Indian, Emirati, Italian, Arabic, and international cuisines with equal ambition. The live entertainment is perpetually good. The free-flow package, while expensive, is genuinely unlimited and genuinely good quality.
What makes Saffron special is that — unlike many mega-brunches — the food quality holds up across stations. The Japanese section alone (live sashimi cutting, tempura station, maki rolls) would make a standalone meal worth attending. Come hungry. Come with people who appreciate abundance without apology.
Brunch Packages
💡 Book 3–4 weeks ahead for peak season (October–April). Request a table near the Japanese station for the best view of the live cooking action. Friday brunch runs 12:30–4pm. Wear comfortable shoes — you will walk further than you expect.
The Naughty Noodles Brunch at Maiden Shanghai is globally recognised as one of the world's wildest brunch experiences — and it lives up to every word of that description. The energy from the moment you step in is unlike anything else in Dubai: live performers, acrobats, a DJ who actually reads the room, and a kitchen producing genuinely excellent Chinese food under conditions that most chefs would consider prohibitively chaotic.
At 4:30pm, the party moves to the rooftop for the FIVE afterparty — skyline views, sunset light, and the night ahead. The brunch-to-afterparty transition is seamless and the highlight of many Dubai residents' weekly calendar. Saturday 1pm–4:30pm.
Brunch Packages
💡 Book at least 2 weeks ahead — this brunch sells out every Saturday without exception. Dress smart-casual to upscale. The afterparty access is included in the premium package and is genuinely worth the upgrade.
Dubai brunch — the city's most distinctive contribution to global food culture
Zuma's Saturday brunch is the benchmark by which all other food-forward brunches in Dubai are judged. The format is simple: an extensive sharing menu of Zuma's greatest hits — black cod in anticucho, spicy beef tenderloin with sweet soy, yellowtail sashimi — served in a festive but controlled environment with excellent service and a beverage list that never feels like an afterthought.
This is the brunch to bring visitors who want to understand why Dubai's dining scene is genuinely world-class. The kitchen treats the brunch menu with the same precision as the regular à la carte service. Extraordinary food, extraordinary setting, extraordinary cost — and worth every dirham.
Brunch Packages
💡 Book 3–4 weeks ahead. Request the terrace tables in winter for the DIFC views. The black cod is non-negotiable as a must-order. Saturdays only, 12:30–3:30pm.
🧠 How to Brunch Like a Dubai Local
- 📅 Book at least 2 weeks ahead for popular brunches (Saffron, Maiden Shanghai, Zuma). During winter season (Oct–Apr), 3–4 weeks minimum is recommended.
- 🍽️ Arrive hungry and arrive on time. The best food at buffet brunches is always in the first 45 minutes when stations are freshest and freshly stocked.
- 👗 Dress code matters in Dubai. Most party brunches require smart-casual minimum; hotel luxury brunches require smart attire. Flip-flops will get you turned away at Zuma.
- 🚕 Never drive to a brunch with beverages. Dubai enforces zero-tolerance drink-driving laws. Plan your Careem/Uber ride in advance — post-brunch demand is enormous.
- 👶 If bringing children, stick to hotel buffet brunches (Atlantis, JW Marriott, InterContinental) which have dedicated kids' activities. Party brunches are not child-appropriate environments.
- 💳 Always check the current price before booking — Dubai brunch prices have increased substantially since 2024 and website prices are not always current. Call to confirm.
